Ram Sale, 27th September
We offer 100 of the best of the Wongajong rams for sale on the 4th Thursday of September each year in an on-property sale. This year it is the 27th. The sale is conducted by our agents, Elders VP.
The best of our rams are on offer as flock rams. We do not specially feed or prepare rams as studs, but we will register any rams purchased by stud buyers from the top 20 on offer.
This year it will be a straight auction, with the rams penned in lots of 1,2, or 3 rams. The previous Helmsman method will no longer be used. Helmsman proved effective when competition was modest, but proved less buyer friendly with a larger number of buyers, some of whom were purchasing more than 10 rams.
We expect rams to bring $500-600 in 2007. Rams that did not meet the $uperBorder$ grade are available at a lower price.
Catalogue
The full Catalogue is posted on this site in early September and is also available by post. The catalogue includes full EBVs (now called ASBVs)on each ram, which is provided by LAMBPLAN late in August. Some comments on visual traits may be included. Please contact us if you would like to receive a catalogue by mail.

- Index = the dollar value of these EBVs to the lamb industry, with 100 representing the middle value for the breed in 1990.

Too many figures?
Most clients choose their rams on the basis of the Dollar index and visual traits of their choosing. The other figures are presented for the specialist who might want rams with special traits, such as low fat or high growth.
Potential clients who wish to receive more explanation of EBVs or about the rams on offer, are welcome to talk to us personally either at or before the sale.
The Sale
The sale commences at 1pm and finishes by 2.30pm. Rams may be taken on the day or left for pick-up at a mutually agreed time. Rams may be delivered to local clients.
Stud rams
Semen from selected stud rams is available from December each year. Please contact us for details.
Other Rams
Any unsold rams are available for sale by private treaty.
Ewes
Ewes are sold privately as grown lambs. These may be ordered at any time and are available for selection from March each year.
